I am working on what I hope will be a series of ten hard-bound books on the B&O in West Virginia. The series will cover the B&O west of Cumberland and the time period from the 1850's until the B&O disappeared as a corporation in 1987. Inaddition to the histories of various lines, old accounts of wrecks and many personal stories and tales from retired railroaders will be included. Currently I have about 2300 photos captioned to data, maps drawn and 600+ pages of text written.
I am in need of good quality copies of photos (black and white) to use or I can copy photos and return them to you along with an extra copy. Also there is a need for copies of tickets used in B&O passenger trains between various stations in West Virginia. I could also use personal stories from railroaders or family member. Contributers will be credited in book(s) and receive a free copy.
The first book (hope to have published within two years) will deal with the "Old Main Line" between Grafton and Wheeling. In special need of material and photos of trains, wrecks and depots at such places as:
- Fetterman
- Coffman
- Valley Falls
- Powell
- Colfax
- Bentons Ferry
- Kingmont
- Fairmont
- Barnestown

|

It's 11:30am as two C&O Chessie SD50s, #8628 and #8626, power a westbound "Skinner" through Montana, WVa, on the now abandoned FM&P Subdivision. The train has just left Fairmont bound for Connellsville, PA, with a consist of 43 "QD" freight cars and 67 loaded coal hoppers.
